What is IV Sedation?

IV sedation, also known as intravenous sedation, involves administering a sedative directly into your bloodstream through a vein. This method allows for quick and effective sedation, helping you feel calm and relaxed during your dental procedure. IV sedation is a highly controlled and safe option, making it ideal for patients with dental anxiety or those undergoing lengthy or complex treatments.

At Gants Hill Smiles, your safety is our top priority. Our dental professionals are highly trained and experienced in administering IV sedation. We follow strict protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and effective sedation experience.

Consultation: During your initial consultation, our experienced dentists will evaluate your medical history, discuss your concerns, and determine if IV sedation is the right choice for you.

Preparation: On the day of your appointment, our team will provide you with pre-procedure instructions. You will need to arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to and from the appointment, as the effects of sedation can linger.

Administration: Once you arrive, a small needle will be inserted into a vein in your arm or hand. The sedative is administered gradually, allowing us to control the level of sedation throughout the procedure.

Monitoring: Throughout the treatment, our team will monitor your vital signs to ensure your safety and comfort.

Recovery: After the procedure, you will be monitored until the sedative wears off. You will need to rest for the remainder of the day and avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
